Aluminum Cans for Burned Children (ACBC) of Northwest Ohio 

   Toledo firefighters participate in the Aluminum Cans for Burned Children program.  Aluminum Cans for Burned Children, or ACBC as it's more commonly called, is a special aluminum can recycling program that was developed by firefighters to raise money for child burn victims.

    For over ten years, Toledo firefighters have been saving and collecting aluminum beverage cans for the nonprofit organization ACBC.  ACBC is further supported by Toledo firefighters who contribute time and effort to this local children's charity.

    Here's how the program works: Aluminum beverage cans are saved and then recycled.  Proceeds from these recycled cans goes into a special ACBC fund which benefits children treated at the burn unit at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.  Generated funds are used to help pay for therapeutic equipment, special clothing and other non medical items not usually covered by insurance.  Additionally, funds can be used to provide burn prevention education programs for children throughout Northwest Ohio, and can help pay for costs associated with sending recovering burn survivors to a regional summer camp designed especially for burned children between the ages of 6-18.

    You can help scalded and burned children too!!  Just save your empty aluminum beverage cans and then take them to a Toledo fire station listed below.  And, don't forget to encourage your family, friends and neighbors to pitch in their cans too!!
